Program Description
Massage Therapy is becoming an increasingly accepted complimentary medical tool. Increasingly, health organizations as well as insurance companies are recognizing Massage Therapy as a valid method of preventive medicine and treatment. Massage Therapy can be utilized in the treatment of different types of back and limb disorders, stress related phenomena such as high blood pressure, anxiety attacks, sleep disorders, and many more. Today’s practitioners must be equipped with knowledge and practical experience in using Massage Therapy to help people with many disorders.
Massage therapy basic certification will prepare our student to take National certification in therapeutic massage therapy and bodywork; students will be qualified to register for New Jersey state certification by Education as well as examination.
This Massage Therapy course prepares the student to be a proficient massage therapist. In this course, the student will learn to deliver a professional full-body massage (based on the principles of Swedish/Oriental Massage), including deep tissue work. Each student will be taught the basic massage techniques, with particular emphasis placed on proper posture to prevent self-injury. The student also learns basic anatomy and physiology, professional ethics, hygiene, and about the mechanism, as well as the many benefits of massages therapy. Each student will also be educated on the contraindications to massage (i.e., when not to perform massage). At the end of this course, a certificate is awarded, enabling the graduate to become licensed /certified by State of New Jersey and practice either privately or at an establishment offering massage therapy services.
